Clinical Fellow (CF) Supervisor-Speech Language Pathologist

General Summary

The Clinical Fellow (CF) Supervisor is responsible for defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions, have the ability to read, analyze, and respond to inquiries or complaints from clients and effectively presents information to top management.

The Clinical Fellow (CF) Supervisor operates in a professional and clinical environment and is a combination of both clinical and supervisory responsibilities.

The employee may frequently be required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This is a full-time position and hours of work and days vary based on the needs of clients/business. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required, as needed. This position also qualifies for some remote work.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities

Core duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Report directly to Sr. Director- Speech Therapy.
  • This position involves providing direct therapy as well as providing supervision and mentorship to SLP candidates pursuing their Clinical Fellowship (CF) hours.
  • Conduct supervision sessions with SLP candidates to support their professional development and CF requirements.
  • Review clinical progress, provide constructive feedback, and assist in goal setting.
  • Ensure compliance with ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) standards and state licensing requirements.
  • Keep accurate records of supervision hours and progress reports.
  • Work in conjunction with Behavior Technicians, Speech, Occupational Therapists, and BCBAs to ensure collaboration within and between disciplines.
  • Act as a point person for Speech department needs in their specific center. These may also include but not limited to aspects of scheduling, emails, discussion of therapy, parent concerns, reviews, and will be dependent based on center and team size.
  • Take part in occasional interviewing and assist with questions related to scheduling.
  • Assist with Speech Department projects and tasks as assigned by Sr. Director – Speech Therapy
  • Will monitor and report inventory of needed items for the respective center.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Direct Therapy Responsibilities:

  • Provide the baseline caseload target of 174 billed sessions per month.
  • Maintain timely professional documentation of clinical notes for direct patient care provided.
  • Completion of documentation for all pre-authorizations, initial evaluations, assessments, insurance reports, and progress reports.

Skills Required

Include demonstrated competencies and physical, mental, & interpersonal skills

  • Master’s degree in Speech Therapy.
  • Licensed Speech Therapist with a minimum of 2 years experience working with children on the autism spectrum.
  • Must maintain American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) CCC and have met the ASHA Supervision requirements.
  • Must complete and maintain certification in Safety Care Training and CPR/First Aid.
  • Previous supervisory experience with the ability to lead a team and supervise therapists.
  • Knowledge of discipline specific assessment tools and procedures.
  • Ability to think critically, solve problems, and make leadership decisions.
  • Must possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and work as a team member.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, execute on deadlines and produce high quality deliverables with attention to details.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
